About
Nike Art Gallery is one of Nigeria's most prominent privately founded cultural institutions.
Founded by Chief Nike Okundaye, the gallery grew from a wider mission to preserve Nigerian textile traditions while creating opportunities for artists and young people.
Cultural Significance
The gallery is particularly associated with Nigerian textile traditions including Adire, weaving and embroidery. It also showcases painting, sculpture, beadwork, photography and other forms of contemporary African art.
Its importance goes beyond exhibition. The wider Nike cultural initiative has trained artists and artisans and created spaces where traditional knowledge can be passed between generations.
