About
The Alok Ikom monoliths are a collection of carved stones associated particularly with Ejagham communities in Cross River State.
The stones are generally arranged in groups or circles and feature carved designs, symbols and human-like forms.
History & Cultural Significance
The exact meaning and origins of the monoliths remain an area of archaeological and cultural interest.
Rather than existing as isolated museum objects, many of the stones remain connected to community spaces and traditional landscapes.
Their existence demonstrates the depth of Nigeria's archaeological heritage beyond the better-known traditions of Benin, Ife and Nok.
